Local Councils.... Are You Ready?

As part of the new government's drive for greater transparency David Cameron has written to government departments requesting them to publish more of their spending details online.

Local government is not exempt from this either. New items of spending, contracts and tenders for anything over £500 will have to be published from January 2011. This move may well drive down costs especially when councils begin to compare suppliers and spending levels. Gordon Fong, Managing Director for e-mango, comments: "It will be highly unlikely there will be sufficient details on the levels of service actually provided beyond the headline figures. There is a danger of comparing apples with pears and not looking at real value for money."

In a climate where local council spending is already under pressure and resources becoming scarce, are you prepared for the extra work this will entail? Do you have a website that is easy to use and update, do you have the time and skills to do this?

Talk to e-mango about our LC905 web content management system and see how we can help.

Here are some other local councils using the e-mango product: Aylesbury, Burntwood, Chesham, Daventry, Fairoak, Halewood, Higham Ferrers, Portishead and North Weston, Raunds, Totton and Eling, West Bletchley, Woughton, Wollaston and Whiston.

They are all well prepared to embrace the change in Government policy. Contact e-mango on 01202 755 300 for more information. www.e-mango.com
